I've been an English teacher for the last 22 years. I first started teaching in Wake County and was fortunate to be on staff at Wakefield High School the year it opened. In 2004, I moved to the DC metro area and began teaching at McLean High School in Fairfax County, Virginia. I taught freshman English, AP English Language and Composition, and a leadership elective. I was also the Varsity Swim Coach. In 2015, my family and I decided to make Raleigh our permanent home.
I'm also a graduate of Wake County Public Schools: I attended Millbrook High School, class of 1995 #wildcatpride
But you definitely need to know that I bleed red and white! I come from a long line of NC State graduates, and we represent our #packpride!! Whether it's football, basketball, baseball, swimming, or even bass fishing, I'm rooting for my Wolfpack.
I received my master's degree from Georgetown University in Washington, DC, in 2009. "Hoya Saxa," but only if they're not playing my Wolfpack. While living in DC, I also became a Washington Nationals fan. The 2019 World Series was the BEST!
When I'm not at school, I'm probably at Lee Brothers Tae Kwon Do. I started TKD in 2016 and earned my 1st degree black belt in June 2020. Then, in April 2022, I earned my 2nd degree--an accomplishment of which I am very proud.
I also love reading, drinking good coffee, and spending time with my husband and our two girls.
